Did you emigrate to New Zealand with parents in the 1950s?
Would you like to share your story with other Captain Hobson families?
Janet Robinson and Janet Simpson would like to hear from anyone who sailed on
the Captain Hobson during her years bringing immigrants to New Zealand in the 1950's.
We are researching the experiences of immigrant children of our era, who were
brought to New Zealand by the Captain Hobson, as we were.
We are also interested in the experiences of children from families who moved away
from New Zealand, back to Britain or to other countries.
Please use the links on the left to make contact with us. We would
love to hear your story.
Please check back regularly as new material is frequently added to the site.
Thank you to Jack Parker (March/April 1956) for this wonderful photo of the
SS Captain Hobson in Wellington.

George Bateman
would like to hear
from any service person who sailed into Liverpool on the SS Captain Hobson
on their way back from Egypt when there was a tug strike in 1954 and the
fire tender towed her into docks. Hope there is someone out there.

Website update 2009
I see it is more than two years (!) since the site was updated -
time for some serious work!
We have continued to receive emails from "Hobson Kids" while the
site has been down, which has been very encouraging.
Hopefully we can start compiling passenger lists from the contacts so far.
