Philip Temple ONZM - Author
It was exciting to discover that the author of one of my favourite books was also a Captain Hobson passenger (Janet R.).

Cover of 'Beak of the Moon' by Philip Temple Message received from the contact form on this site:

"I came to NZ as an 18 year-old on that last voyage of the Hobson. As a professional writer, I am just beginning a memoir which will include some account of that trip."

In reply to my email, Mr Temple mentioned that he had met Rhys Jones onboard the Captain Hobson:

"You may remember him on TV here years ago when he was one of the front people on Auckland's Town and Around. He spent a lot of time in Australia and elsewhere but has been back in Auckland for a while."

I certainly do remember him as we were living in Hamilton when Town and Around was showing.

A small selection of Mr Temple's publications, awards and honours, are presented below.
